From The President's Desk (July 2008)

This summer season brought us an event that only comes once every 17 years. The arrival of the 17 year Locust or Cicada. The arrival was extreme at the club this year, trying to talk over the sound of the males trying to attract the females. For those of you who are into insect eating the Wharton Gazette had a good recipe, Hot-Cicada Nacho Grande. It is my understanding the female Cicada is more nutritious and should be used in this recipe.

Some events held since the spring newsletter where the Kids Fishing Derby held over Memorial Weekend and the Annual Snake Hunt held June 14th and 15th. These events were well attended and we look forward to providing these events next year.
